To install VJAMix: Happy Sky, unzip the "VJAMix - Happy Sky Main Pack.zip" file into a directory with "use folder names" turned on. This will create a "VJAMix - Happy Sky" directory with an installation of Stepmania containing all the songs and courses, the theme, the correct Unlocks.dat and the correct settings.
After this, you may play by simply opening the Program directory under the base directory you unzipped the Main Pack into, and double clicking the Stepmania icon. Stepmania will default to a 640x480 window, but you can adjust the resolution and windowed/fullscreen setting by going to "Options" from the main menu and choosing Graphic Options.
If you downloaded the optional Movie Pack, you may install that to get background movies for all songs. Open your base VJAMix: Happy Sky directory, then open the Songs folder, then open the "VJAMix - Happy Sky" folder under that. Extract the "VJAMix - Happy Sky Movie Pack.zip" file into this directory with "use folder names" turned on. (You can also extract it into the "RandomMovies" folder under the base folder with "use folder names" turned off - either will work. You may prefer this option if you renamed the directories which the songs are under).
To install on Macintosh or Linux (or any other operating system that supports StepMania 3.9), you will need to install your own copy of Stepmania, then copy across the relevant folders from the archive. These folders are specifically the Courses, Data, Songs and Themes folders. Overwrite any existing files when copying these folders into your local installation. Be sure to do this with a clean install of Stepmania, not with an installation you have already been using. If Stepmania prompts you to uninstall when you try to make a second installation, you should be able to get around this by temporarily renaming the directory containing your first installation.
If you only wish to add the stepfiles from VJAMix: Happy Sky to your existing Stepmania installation, unzip the Main Pack into a temporary directory and then copy the "VJAMix - Happy Sky" directory under "Songs" into your own installation's Songs folder. Of course, if you do this, all songs will be available at all times. You may also copy across and use the theme in the same way (it is in the "aoi-vjamixhs" folder under Themes) but we recommend that you use the provided Stepmania installation if playing with the theme.
You should be ready to play from the start with default settings. By default, the game is set to 3 stages in arcade mode. You may turn on Event Mode if you wish in the Coin Options for unlimited stages, but be aware that this will prevent you from accessing the hidden extra stage, until it is permanently unlocked during play.
If you do not wish to use the unlock system, you may turn off "Unlock System" under "Gameplay Options". All songs and courses will then be available from the start. Otherwise, songs and courses will be unlocked as you play more songs in either arcade or event mode. At the end of each round of arcade mode, a screen will appear showing your progress through the unlocks.
