This is a temporary page containing installation instructions and download links for VJAMix: DistorteD, to be used until the full site is created.
DO NOT INSTALL AS A SMZIP OR UNZIP VJAMIX: DISTORTED INTO AN EXISTING STEPMANIA INSTALLATION! If in doubt, be sure to read the instructions before installing.
VJAMix: DistorteD Main Pack (Torrent)
This is the main download that you need to run VJAMix: DistorteD. It includes the songs & stepfiles, theme, and a properly configured install of Stepmania for Windows. (Linux and Mac users will need to download this and copy specific directories to a new installation of their Stepmania - see the installation instructions for details.)
VJAMix: DistorteD Movie Pack (Torrent)
This is the optional BG movies pack for VJAMix: DistorteD. It includes BG movies for most songs, properly formatted for optimal display on Stepmania's gameplay screen and synced to match the songs used. Without this pack BG videos will not appear. See the installation page for instructions.
INSTALLATION ON WINDOWS
To install VJAMix: DistorteD, unzip the "VJAMix - DistorteD Main Pack.zip" file into a directory with "use folder names" turned on. This will create a "VJAMix - DistorteD" directory with an installation of Stepmania containing all the songs and courses, the theme, the correct Unlocks.dat and the correct settings. Do NOT rename the zip to smzip to install it, and do NOT install into the directory of an existing Stepmania installation, or you may lose your profile data and settings.
After installation, you may play by simply opening the Program directory under the base directory you unzipped the Main Pack into, and double clicking the Stepmania icon. Stepmania will default to a 800x600 window, but you can adjust the resolution and windowed/fullscreen setting by going to "Options" from the main menu and choosing Graphic Options.
If you downloaded the optional Movie Pack, you can install that to get background movies for most (regrettably not all) songs. Open your base VJAMix: DistorteD directory, then open the Songs folder, then open the "VJAMix - DistorteD" folder under that. Extract the "VJAMix - DistorteD Movie Pack.zip" file into this directory with "use folder names" turned on. (You can also extract it into the "RandomMovies" folder under the base folder with "use folder names" turned off - either will work. You may prefer this option if you renamed the directories which the songs are under).
INSTALLATION ON NON-WINDOWS
To install on Macintosh or Linux (or any other operating system that supports StepMania 3.9), you will need to install your own copy of Stepmania, then copy across the relevant folders from the archive. These folders are specifically the Courses, Data, Songs and Themes folders. Overwrite any existing files when copying these folders into your local installation (be sure to do this with a clean install of Stepmania, NOT with an installation you have already been using).
COPYING INTO AN EXISTING STEPMANIA INSTALLATION
If you wish to only add the stepfiles from VJAMix: DistorteD into an existing Stepmania installation, you must first install into an empty directory as above. Then open up the "VJAMix - DistorteD" folder, then the Songs folder, then copy the second "VJAMix - DistorteD" folder within to your own Stepmania installation's Songs folder. This is all you need to do (you may wish to do it after installing the movie pack). Likewise, to use the theme in your own installation, copy across the "xi-vjamixdd" subdirectory from the Themes directory. Note that the theme was specifically adapted and tested for VJAMix: DistorteD and using it on a different installation of Stepmania could have unanticipated results.
